Double Recovery from Severn River

On February 10, 2016, volunteers from the Charles County Dive Rescue Company 13 responded to the request from the Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) to assist with the search for two missing subjects lost on the Severn River in Anne Arundel County on January 19, 2016.

Upon arrival of Dive Boat 13 and Rescue Boat 13, Chief 13 met with NRP to establish a working plan and gather historical information on the time-line and prevailing conditions at the time of the incident. Additional information provided included the coordinates for the approximate last seen point and the position of the missing subject's vessel when it was found.

The working plan was for both Co. 13 vessels to begin side scan SONAR operations based on the subject's boat location and the last seen point. Approximately 13 minutes into SONAR operations, the first subject was discovered and the second subject after approximately 41 minutes. The subjects were marked and divers from Co. 13 and NRP made the recovery without difficulty.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the families of the victims for their tragic loss.
