Side-Scan SONAR (SSS)
CCDR obtained its 1st side-scan SONAR system in 2005. The system was the Marine Sonic Splash-Proof Centurion 600kHz. The Marine Sonic Centurion was one of the first SSS purpose built with the first responder in mind. The system was suitable for use in all-weather conditions on an open deck vessel. The Centurion served CCDR well until the system processor failed and could not be replaced due to obsolescence.
In 2011 following the loss of the Centurion, it was replaced with a new Marine Sonic Technology dual frequency 900/1800 kHz HDS system. The 9/18 HDS system in still in use on DB 13. It can also be fitted, as needed, on Inflatable 13
In 2014 CCDR also added a new Marine Sonic Technology dual frequency 900/1800 kHz Arc Explorer to the new RB 13. The Arc Explorer can also be used on other vessels as needed.
In 2019 CCDR added a Fisher Scan 650 kHz tripod mounted scanning SONAR. The Scan 650 is a standalone system that allows bottom scanning in more confined areas.
